things i know (this week, anyway) #18

- The broiler is the g-spot of the kitchen: hard to find, but once you do, things get a whole lot more fun.

- As long as they remain biologically incapable of getting pregnant, it seems men will continue publicly saying ridiculously stupid things about women and their reproductive systems.

- Walking carefully and consciously into love is no better or worse than falling--it's just a different way of getting there.

- It's important to always keep two feet on the ground. Well, at least one.

- The best trick I know for getting past painful memories is to focus on loving and accepting the person I was when they happened.

- There's nothing more legitimizing than being in a room full of people who also do what you do.

- For all its faults, social media helps make amazing things happen.

- As it turns out, the fact that we aren't friends in real life--let alone the fact that we live in different parts of the country--isn't reason enough for you to stop inviting me to your goddamn Facebook events.

- Good cooking is the expression of edible affection.
