things i know (this week, anyway) #26

- Failure is scary, but success can be terrifying.

- The cheapest, simplest way to take your cooking to the next level is to use fresh herbs. They typically cost less than $1 for a bunch, and they improve both the look and the flavor of just about everything.

- There were a lot of problems with Miley Cyrus' performance at the VMAs the other night, but none of them had to do with her physical appearance.

- For most of my life I have thought of myself as an extravert, but I think that may be changing some as I get older.

- Unless I am paying you to be my therapist, you should probably keep your analysis of my flaws to yourself.

- USING ALL CAPS DOES NOT MAKE YOUR WORDS MORE COMPELLING.

- Sometimes pho and zinc lozenges are all you can do for a cold.

- The purpose of speaking up when something bothers you isn't necessarily to get it to stop. Sometimes the act of speaking one's truth creates the necessary shift
within.

- Mashable seems to be trying really hard to be the new BuzzFeed.

- It's possible to have a deep, meaningful attachment to a physical space.

- I have more smile lines and creases next to my eyes than ever before, and--I gotta tell you--I really like them.
